decor
in 1998, chuck e cheese's restaurants were given new artwork. they all had the phrase "must c tv" on them and were parodies of popular tv shows at the time, like seinfeld and star trek. previously, there were record parody posters. the must c tv posters replaced them except for some restaurants, which used both. this remodel also introduced the "pop art chuck" posters, a set of posters inspired by andy warhol's work.
in 2004, chuck e cheese's locations began to get remodels featuring avenger chuck. the interior would get purple walls, and artwork featuring chuck and his friends, which replaced the "must c tv" posters. the previously-mentioned pop art chuck posters were rereleased for this remodel. the exteriors had a beige and tan checkerboard pattern with red diamonds, purple and red awnings, and a logo of avenger chuck giving a thumbs up. the first location to get this remodel was the irving, texas one. some stores got a prototype logo, which has the shape of the cool chuck logo, but with avenger chuck's colors.
avenger chuck also appeared on the ice cream machine, the boy's bathroom sign, and probably more things. these are just what i could find pictures of.
when my sister took me to chuck e cheese's when i was like 9 or 10, she took me to a location that had this remodel. it's my fav remodel, i think the chuck logo is cute and i love the art. sadly that one got remodeled sometime in 2024 u___u i think a few locations still have it but they're few and far between.
tokens
from 1995 to 2006, chuck e cheese's would produce two types of tokens: one featuring tux chuck, and one featuring cool/avenger chuck (the cool chuck and avenger chuck tokens are effectively the same, except chuck has a "c" on his hat in the tokens from 2001 and after). the tux chuck tokens were mostly used at franchised locations, and the cool/avenger chuck tokens were mostly used at corporate locations. some locations had both but most only had one or the other.
logos
at the beginning of the avenger era, store logos featured what is supposed to be cool chuck giving a thumbs up, but it looks more like he's pointing at himself lol. this logo would be used until 2001. starting in 1998, there was a variation on this logo where he had a "c" on his hat instead of a star, which was used until 2004. some locations had their own small variations on these logos; examples include white text or the logo being backwards. my closest location had the standard c cap logo until it was remodeled. for some reason i thought it was creepy when i was a little kid, idk why.
starting in 2004, chuck e cheese's stores started to use a logo with avenger chuck giving a thumbs up. it was used until 2013. prototypes had him wearing a sweater while the finalized design has him wearing the original avenger chuck outfit. there was a variant with cool chuck colors, and a red variant. normally, the insides of his ears and around his mouth are tan, but some logos make these areas white. there's also a logo of avenger chuck pointing.
these logos are a rarity in the present day.
puppets
in 1999, puppets of the avenger era characters were made for chuck e cheese's showtapes. these puppets were made to interact with the studio c bot, so avenger chuck didn't appear a lot bc two chucks would confuse kids. the other characters appeared more. mr munch got a redesign in 2000, but the rest of the puppets kept their 1999 designs until 2013, tho they would wear different outfits sometimes.
walkarounds
walkaround mascots are an integral part of chuck e cheese's. they're entertaining to interact with, and help keep up the illusion that chuck is real. when avenger chuck debuted, the tux chuck walkaround was in use, and would be in use until 2001.
a cool chuck walkaround was used from 1997 to 2008, and had many color variations. it used the same head design that the tux chuck walkaround had. all of the walkarounds used during the avenger era had this head. a sweater chuck walkaround debuted in the same year and was used until 2003. it can be argued that it was just another cool chuck variant cuz it had the same hat.
in 2004, the avenger chuck outfit was introduced. in 2008, a version without a tooth debuted at some locations. the guatemala location's walkaround had a head made out of a different material. its last usage for a while was for the first quarter 2013 showtape, featuring a different outfit to match the rockstar chuck redesign. it was brought back in 2024 for the grand reopening of the chuck e cheese's in nanuet, new york.
this is personally my fav chuck e walkaround design. he looks so cute and friendly. the others just look uncanny or even straight up creepy.
